About
Dory Bavarsky is an award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist. He studied classical piano under scholarship at the Southern California Conservatory of Music, and earned a BA in music composition from the College of Creative Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Music
Dory's music has been featured on many prominent television programs, commercial music libraries, and independent films. His television credits include The Oprah Winfrey Show, Guiding Light, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, UFO Hunters, MTV's Next and Sex With Mom and Dad. He has been an ASCAP member since 2006.
In 2007, Dory earned an Emmy Certificate for his contributions to the CBS drama Guiding Light.
Utilizing his collection of acoustic, electric, and virtual instruments, Dory draws upon his classical training and broad knowledge of musical styles to create new compositions. His music offers fresh sounds, evocative themes, and compelling development, always serving to support and enhance the emotional context of the scenes for which it is composed.
Performance
In addition to his work as a composer, Dory is an in demand pianist, performing as a soloist and accompanist in a variety of musical styles. He leads the Dory Bavarsky Trio and the group Torio, which perform throughout Southern California.
Torio performed as semi-finalists at the 4th International Bucharest Jazz Competition in May 2010. They also won 5th place at Jazz Hoeilaart Competition in Belgium in September 2010.
In October 2010, Dory performed as a semi-finalist at the Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition and at the Martial Solal Jazz Piano Competition in Paris.
